THE PRIORITY FOR THE EPAD: QUALITY OF LIFE
The EPAD (Etablissement Public pour l'Aménagement de La Défense) was created
in 1958 to manage the development of La Défense.
The site is now Europe's largest business district with the world's top companies
located in offices totalling three million square metres.
EPAD aims to make La Défense a lively, animated district, with efficient services
adapted to the latest technology.
In 1996, La Défense became the first business district to be fully equipped with
a local fibre optic loop, providing all the companies on the site with optimum
conditions for circulating information.
It is now the first open-air hotspot covering more than thirty hectares, and also offers
specific information services for the business district environment.
This initiative is part of the development agency's policy of constantly improving
the quality of life in La Défense.
