The major WiFi operators in France have decided to join forces to offer the best WiFi coverage
to all their customers and a uniform public WiFi service.
SFR, Orange and Bouygues Telecom are behind the initiative and have set up a
non-profit-making association to develop the French public WiFi market.
Membership is open to all French WiFi operators using W-LAN technology and with
at least one hotspot.
It currently regroups: SFR Cegetel, Orange, Bouygues Telecom, Wifirst, ADP Télécom,
Naxos Telcité, Visacom, Meteor Networks and Sanef. Its members represent more
than 95% of the hotspots installed in France, with more than 7,000 hotspots. Their
membership of the new association demonstrates their commitment to make WiFi easy
to use and offer customers excellent quality of service.
